Our Featured Campground this week is Blue
Rocks Family Campground. Blue Rocks is nestled
in the heart of the beautiful Blue Mountains in NE Pennsylvania.
Your camping experience will be a delightful one, with 120 acres

101 survival or fun??? (Camping hints 2 of 3)
So your ready to start your camping
adventure! You have booked
your campground in advance, you have all
your necessities packed in your faithful vehicle, which has been
checked over, and your food is prepared.
The only thing left is to get there and enjoy right?
Not quite yet. Before you leave, you will want to spend some time
looking at a map to discover alternate routes to the campground.
When you do leave, try to leave as early as possible giving your
self plenty of daylight to set up a campsite. It’s a dreadful
experience to set up a tent, or level an RV in the dark. Arriving
early will give you a chance to get to know your camping neighbors
as well.
Now that your site is set up and you are settled in,
head down to the campground office. Most campgrounds have free brochures
and literature about local attractions. This is a great way of finding
things to do that you may not have thought of doing. Also take some
time to walk around the campground to become familiar with the grounds.
Locate the nearest bathhouse, pool, fresh water sources or any other
useful amenity the campground may have to offer.
Before going to bed, make sure you extinguish your
campfire and all food is put in a safe and secure place far from
critters that would love to dig their paws right in. If you are
staying in an RV, try to keep all your food in the RV at night.
If you are staying in a tent, store the food somewhere secure away
from your tent. The other thing you may want to consider is where
you store your trash. Trash can be a very tempting item for animals
as well.
Every camping adventure is different depending on how
many people you are camping with, whether or not you are tent camping,
or RV camping, and how long you plan on staying out in the wilderness.
But no matter what your situation is, keep in mind that this is
supposed to be a fun/-relaxing getaway. It’s a good idea if
you choose to research not only the campground, but also its surroundings.
I found that it’s a lot of fun to plan day trips to different
places around the campsites. You will be amazed at the different
places you would not normally find at the tourism booths.
