101 survival or fun??? (Camping hints 3 of 3)
So you’ve had a great time out
in the great out doors and now it is time to get back to reality
and enter into the daily routine of work family etc. Before you
leave the campground there are some underlying rules you should
follow to make sure that the next camping party that has to stay
at your site will have as much fun as you just did.
The first rule for the most part is if you brought
it with you – take it with you. Leave the campground site
in pristine condition (hopefully the way you found it). Pick up
all your trash and dispose of it in the appropriate containers,
or pack it up and take it with you. When taking down your tent,
make sure all tent stakes are pulled, and not left behind for someone
to hurt himself or herself on. The same goes with un-leveling an
RV. Don’t leave your leveling wood behind for someone else
to deal with.
Rule two; don’t leave food behind. As much as
the wilderness critters hate this rule, never the less it is there
to make sure that there is not a big mess for the next camping enthusiast.
Rule three; make sure your campground fires are extinguished.
Yes I know this seems obvious enough, but you would be surprised
how many people let this one slip. It is even suggested that you
throw some water over the wood you may have left in the fire ring
just to be on the safe side.
Rule four; if you broke something, or if you found
something wrong with the campsite, make sure you take the time to
report it. The campground will be happy that you made them aware
of any problems, or broken items that need to be repaired. If you
enjoyed your stay, try to take some time to let the appropriate
people know that you had a great time, and you will be back to enjoy
the campground again. A little kindness goes along way.
